Recently we bade farewell to the wonderful group of Erasmus+ students from Hungary. They arrived in Plymouth on 9th November 2014 with the aim to undertake a 3 week work experience placement in retail sector. Due to the participants young age ( all under 18, some under 16), Almond Vocational Link put extra measures in place to ensure that they all felt safe, welcome and comfortable in their new surroundings. For some of the students, this was the first time they have ever left Hungary and had an opportunity to experience a new culture.
We worked closely with the group’s teacher who kept a watchful eye on the students throughout the stay. All the participants lived with our trusted host families in half board accommodation which offers a great value for money experience. Some of the feedback we received, certainly confirms that:
My host family was friendly, kind and understanding. The accommodation was home-like, comfortable and nice”

As a part of their Erasmus+ Key Action 1 project – JIT Method in Practice in Small Retail Units, the students had an opportunity to work for small retail units in Plymouth for a period of three weeks. It was a great chance for them to put their knowledge and skills into practice. Our Erasmus+ students undertook simple tasks and received guidance from their supervisors in regards to business’ operating procedures, working with and for English speakers also improved their language abilities. The opportunity to work in the chosen vocation and in a foreign country, gave these young people an invaluable experience which will prove very beneficial in their future carriers.
It was very interesting and busy. It was a very good job for me and I loved the 3 weeks. My boss – Alison was very helpful and friendly person. I would like to work for her again!
