On 2nd February 2016, Almond Vocational Link had a great pleasure of welcoming 10 young VET students from Italy as a part of Erasmus Plus Key Action 1 VET mobility. The group was accompanied by their teacher – Liuba Zanardini, who was here to support the student and create a link between the participants and sending organisation as well as the hosting organisation (Almond Vocational Link) . Liuba also personally visited all the work experience placements and had a chance to talk to both work experience supervisors and the students about their progress.
The students were greeted by representatives of Almond Vocational Link and their new host families outside of City Business Park – where the coach arrived. All the participants received their student handbooks and were invited to an official Welcome Meeting on the next day which was followed by a tour of Plymouth.

My host family were nice and cooked very well. They made me feel welcome and the accommodation is very cosy. The tasks at work experience placement met my expectations and I would like to work for this organisation again. I was satisfied with the services provided by Almond and I would recommend this organisation to others.

When organising work experience placements and accommodation we took under consideration factors such as:
- young age of students 17+
- their interests and experience
- their level of English
- distance between accommodation and work placement / city centre and the ease of access
The tasks met my expectations, I would like to work for this organisation again. It’s a very good way to improve English and it’s an important experience. I felt welcome at my host family’s home, they were nice and kind. The accommodation fully met my expectations and the food was very good and the portion size very big. I am satisfied with the services provided by Almond e.g. work placement , accommodation. Everything was easy and comfortable. My work placement was really easy to get to. The bus pass was very important to me, I used it every day to travel around the city. I would recommend this organisation to others.

Almond Vocational Link were asked to organise 2 cultural excursions for the group during their time off on the weekend to National Marine Aquarium and Eden Project in Cornwall. We arranged group tickets for the participants as well as private transport to St. Austell where the Eden Project is based.
The work experience tasks met my expectations and I would like to work for my host organisation again. My host family were really nice, they made me feel welcome and the accommodation was very cosy. The food was good and the meals were big enough. The services provided by Almond e.g: work placement, accommodation were satisfying. I was quite impressed with Almond and I will recommend this organisation to others.

During their stay in the UK, the beneficiaries had the opportunity to put in practice all the competences, skills and knowledge that they acquired during the time of their studies. Through the Erasmus Plus internships, the students improved their English, learned how to behave in a work place setting and to respect the internal rules of an organization. They also had an opportunity to work as a part of a team, and to improve their intercultural skills.
The tasks met my expectations because I had a lot of chances to improve my English and learn a lot of things. I would like to work for that charity again because with their help I improved my abilities and learned how to handle money. My host family were really friendly, I always felt welcome. My accommodation was very comfortable and I had all the things I needed. The portion sizes of our meals were plentiful and the food was really good!

During their stay, the students learned a different work culture which certainly increased their chances on the European job market. They will be able to evidence with the Euro Passes that they are able to adopt themselves to foreign working conditions. They managed to communicate with work colleagues, managers, customers and their host families on a daily basis. They improved the speaking abilities and got used to different English accents. The host companies were happy to have them and the students left many positive impressions behind because of their knowledge, positive attitude and polite manners.
We received some excellent feedback from the work placement providers about the students. We think that this project was very successful and that all parties, host companies, host families and students gained a great deal of positive experience. We would like to thank the participants for their hard work and we wish them all the best for their future career and that they can accomplish all their expectations.
